Kildare Youth Services – Curragh Youth Project is proud to announce the opening of County Kildare’s First Youth Café
Tuesday, March 20th will see the official opening of Co. Kildare’s first Youth Café in the Curragh by the Minister for State at the Department of Education and Science, Sean Haughey, T.D. at 7pm.
The opening is a culmination of a year of fundraising and hard work by the local young people, community members, politicians and the staff and volunteers of the Curragh Youth Project and K.Y.S. The premises for the Cafe and other supports were kindly provided by the army.
The running of the premises, including food preparation and service, will actively involve young people from the area, which will provide a strong sense of ownership and a much needed place for them to ‘hang-out’. Facilities will include a snooker table, music room, play station, internet access, arts and crafts to name but a few.
The Curragh Youth Project, which has been in existence since 1999, will also continue to run its ongoing groups and programmes from the Café Premises.
End.
