The Dublin Gliding Club was established in 1952 when a group of six curious would-be pilots responded to an advertisement placed in a Dublin newspaper. Since then the club has evolved from car launching along a grass strip in Weston to aerotow launches in Gowran Grange; from single place gliders with ground based instruction to dual place trainers with full dual instruction. During the intervening years the club has had an interesting and varied history.
